Settling In

We offer parents the opportunity to come into the nursery with their child in order to help them settle in, and for this to be gradually reduced, as their child becomes familiar with his/her surroundings.

Each child is given a Key-Worker, a member of staff who will then liase with parents, with any concerns or pass on any relevant information about how their child has been when in nursery.

We will ask parents to write down their child's routine, their likes/dislikes, anything that will be familiar to the child.

We will also ask parents to bring any comfort items that their child has, for example, a dummy, blanket or a favourite toy.

During a settling in period we may suggest that the child starts on half days or a lesser number of sessions and for that the number to gradually increase.

We offer Parents Evenings so that parents have the opportunity to discuss their child and so they themselves feel comfortable with the nursery.

We will offer parents every reassurance that their child is safe, that we offer a high standard of Care and Education, that we will help them in any way we can through the settling in period and in the future and that they are welcome to phone and check how their child is throughout the day.
