Kiddies Corner Day Nursery offers a wide range of activities indoors and outdoors to help develop your children's skills. Each age group has their own room, which is equipped with age appropriate toys.
The downstairs of the nursery consists of an entrance hall, and two playrooms. The first room is divided into two with a permanent divider and gate. One area is The Goldfish room for babies aged 3 months up to approximately 12 months. The second area is The Lily Pond for children aged approximately 12 months to 2 years. The other room downstairs is The Garden Room for children aged 2 and above. This room is also used as a dining area at meal times & children from The Lily Pond interact with The Garden Room at these times. There are two toilets, 2 wash hand basins and a nappy changing area too.
Upstairs is The Treehouse playroom for the children who are aged over two and a half. This room is used as our Afterschool Club. There is also a toilet and wash hand basin.
The nursery kitchen is located upstairs where all the children's meals and snacks are prepared. Our Cook has attended courses in Health & Safety Level 2 & Food Safety Level 3. Kiddies Corner has been awarded four stars out of a maximum of five by the National Food Hygiene Rating System which is fantastic.
The Goldfish & Lily Pond planning rotates activities so that all the areas of development are covered. It also means that children don’t miss out on different or new experiences if they are not in every day.
The planning for The Garden Room has a theme which changes approximately every 2-3 weeks. The theme reflects the current seasons and includes special occasions from a variety of cultures.
Kiddies Corner offers the Foundation Phase Curriculum to those children who miss out on part time school during the spring and summer terms. The Foundation Phase planning covers the 7 areas of learning, these are Language, Literacy and Communication Skills, Mathematical Development, Knowledge and Understanding of the World, Creative Development, Personal and Social Development, Physical Development and Welsh Language Development. Activities are planned per term.
Topics are then broken down to half term segments and then again to weekly plans and ideas. There is always flexibility for change. The Foundation Phase sessions take place between the upstairs playroom and the outdoor area during term times.
The after school children are given the opportunity to choose the activities and toys they want to be involved in after their busy day in school and during the holidays a themed plan is prepared for them to follow.
